Loganair to replace flybmi on London Stansted - City of Derry route
Wednesday February 27 , 2019

Following flybmi’s recent administrative woes and the cancellation of all flights on all routes, Loganair has been chosen to replace flybmi on the London Stansted to City of Derry route. This lifeline for City of Derry airport will enable it to continue to offer air travel services from the North West of Ireland.
The Scotland based carrier will operate a twice daily service from 27th February 2019 using a 49 seat Embraer 145 jet aircraft.
This follows Loganair picking up five other routes as a result of flybmi ceasing to trade.
Aberdeen – Bristol
Aberdeen – Oslo
Aberdeen – Esberg
Newcastle – Stavangar
Newcastle – Brussels
The Aberdeen routes will launch on 4th March 2019 whilst the Newcastle routes will launch on 25th March 2019.
The position of flybmi highlights the difficulties faced by smaller short haul carriers, however, the capacity of other carriers to step in and pick up new routes to add to their portfolios represents opportunities for growth and expansion.
